Central Indiana Ozone Status Public Hearing
INDIANAPOLIS, IN - IDEM invites the public to comment on its draft ozone redesignation petition and maintenance plan for Central Indiana. The agency's redesignation petition requests the United States Environmental Protection Agency acknowledge that ozone levels now meet the health-based 8-hour ozone standard and approve the request to redesignate the central Indiana counties to attainment. The Central Indiana area includes Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Madison, Marion, Morgan and Shelby counties.As part of the public participation process, IDEM will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, March 6, 2007. The hearing will allow the public to submit written and oral comments on the redesignation petition and maintenance plan. IDEM staff will be available during the hearing to answer questions. Citizens also have until Friday, March 9, 2007 to submit written comments to IDEM.
