Indiana BMV Mails April 30 and May 15 Registration Notices
INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles has mailed vehicle registration reminders to all customers with an April 30 expiration date and has returned to its long-standing practice of sending notices to customers 30-45 days in advance of expiration dates. All notices for April 30 were mailed to customers on Friday, March 16, 2007, and notices for the May 15 expiration date are scheduled to be mailed today.
Most customers whose last names begin with "G" have an April 30 registration deadline while customers whose last names begin with "HA-HN" have a May 15 deadline.
The suggested mail-in deadline for customers choosing to conduct their registration transactions by mail is April 15 while the May 15 mail-in deadline is April 30.
"We have worked diligently to address the challenges with 2007 renewal notices and we anticipate no further mail delays," said Indiana BMV Commissioner Ron Stiver.
While many Indiana customers may prefer receiving reminders before renewing, the notices are not needed in-hand to complete the registration process.
Customers may renew online at http://www.in.gov/bmv or at a Self Service Terminal (SST) if they can provide their license plate number and Social Security number.
Customers who receive on error message during an online or SST transaction will need to visit a license branch with a previous year's registration and a document proving their current address. An error message occurs because certain data may need to be updated in agency records.
Customers may also renew their registration at a license branch without their current notice by providing a copy of their previous year's registration, OR their license plate number, OR their Social Security Number.
