Lt. Governor Skillman Announces Staff Changes
INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Indiana Lt. Governor Becky Skillman today announced the departure of Chief of Staff Anne Hazlett. Hazlett has accepted a position as counsel for Ranking Member Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) on the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry.
Hazlett has served as Chief of Staff for Lt. Gov. Skillman since the Daniels Administration took office. She staffed Daniels' gubernatorial campaign, and previously served as an attorney for the U.S. House Committee on Agriculture. Among her new responsibilities, Hazlett will work on the 2007 farm bill.
"Anne has been a tremendous asset to our office and the Administration. She has worked incredibly hard on behalf of all Hoosiers," said Lt. Gov. Skillman. "While we'd love to keep her here, we know she will continue to serve Indiana as she helps craft the next farm bill."
Deputy Chief of Staff Steve Boyce will step into the lead staff position. A Purdue graduate and Johnson County native, he has been deputy since January 2005. Boyce has a wealth of experience in policy and the political process. He has worked as Director of Governmental Affairs for the Indiana Builders Association and as Communications Director for the State Treasurer. In 2002 he worked for Congressman Steve Buyer.
Policy Advisor Chris Crabtree has been named Deputy Chief of Staff. He holds a B.S. in Business Management from Indiana Wesleyan University and a J.D. from the Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington. Crabtree served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Congressman Mike Sodrel and worked in Congressman John Hostettler's office for eight years. He lives in Bloomington, Ind., and is a naval reserve officer.
"We are fortunate to have great talent already on staff in both Steve and Chris. I am pleased they are willing to tackle new challenges and serve the Administration in new roles," said Lt. Gov. Skillman.
