Indianapolis Restriction Update - 4/12/07

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The following restrictions are current or upcoming for the Indianapolis metropolitan region. Many restrictions listed below are dependent upon favorable weather conditions.

NEW OR UPDATED RESTRICTIONS

• Keystone Avenue/Rural Street will be closed at the I-70 overpass for one work day to allow Super 70 bridge crews to pour concrete pavement for the bridge deck overhead. The I-70 eastbound exit to northbound Keystone Avenue will also be closed as this traffic will not be able to travel under the overpass. The I-70 eastbound exit to southbound Rural Street will remain open.

        Date: Friday, April 13 or Saturday, April 14, 2007
        Time: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

• Shadeland Avenue will be closed at the I-70 overpass for one work day to allow Super 70 bridge crews to install structural steel for the westbound bridges.

        Date: Saturday, April 14, 2007
        Time: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

• I-465 southbound ramp to 56th Street/Shadeland Ave. will be closed to install panels for interstate noise barriers. Traffic driving south on Shadeland Avenue over I-465 will still have access to the ramp system.

        Date: Saturday, April 14, 2007
        Time: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.

• West 86th Street, at the I-465 overpass, will be restricted to one lane on work nights to install large steel arches.

        Date: Monday, April 16 – Monday, May 4, 2007
        Time: 8 p.m. – 6 a.m.

•  I-465 southbound, between I-69 and U.S. 36 (Pendleton Pike) exits, will have single daytime lane closures in the right lane for construction to install interstate noise barriers. The right shoulder will remain closed until work is complete.

        Date: Monday, April 2 – June 2007
        Time: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on weekdays & 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Saturday

•  I-465 eastbound, near the I-65 and U.S. 31 bridges on the south side, will have the left two lanes closed for bridge painting work.

        Date: Thursday, March 22 – May 2007
        Time: 7 p.m. – 5 a.m.

 

SUPER 70 RESTRICTIONS

•  I-70, in both directions between I-465 and the North Split, will have two-way traffic restricted to one side of the interstate for Super 70 reconstruction. An additional lane will be opened for peak commuting traffic every 12 hours on weekdays starting at 10 o’clock. Trucks rated over 13 tons and vehicles pulling trailers are prohibited. Motorists are encouraged to visit http://super70.in.gov for alternate route information.

• Roosevelt/Commerce Avenue and Shadeland Avenue at I-70 overpass: Closed between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night from Monday, April 16 to Friday, April 20 for bridge demolition.

•  Shadeland Avenue at I-70 overpass: Closed between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night from Monday, April 16 to Saturday, April 21 for bridge demolition. Daytime work will continue to restrict right lane and shoulder in each direction.

•  Massachusetts Avenue and Ritter Avenue at I-70 overpass: Daytime restrictions for bridge work limit two-way traffic to one lane, controlled by flaggers.

•  Arlington Avenue at I-70 overpass: Right shoulder and lane closed in each direction for bridge work.

•  A rolling two-week schedule of all local road restrictions for Super 70 bridge rehabilitation can be found online at http://super70.in.gov.

• I-70 & Keystone Avenue/Rural Street: All entrance ramps onto I-70 are closed. The I-70 westbound exit ramp to Keystone Avenue is also closed.

•  I-70 & Emerson Avenue: All entrance and exit ramps are closed.

• I-70 & Shadeland Avenue: The entrance and exit ramps connecting with I-70 westbound are closed, however the westbound exit ramp is open to traffic exiting from I-465 southbound. The eastbound entrance ramp does not connect to I-70, only I-465.

• I-70 & I-465: The loop ramp from I-465 northbound to I-70 westbound is closed. I-465 southbound traffic exiting onto I-70 westbound will connect through the Shadeland Avenue ramp system. 

PREVIOUSLY ANNOUNCED CLOSURES AND RESTRICTIONS

•  I-65 and I-465, in locations listed below, will have one lane or shoulder closed near active guardrail repair work.

•  I-65 in both directions between I-465 on the south side and the Main Street (Greenwood) exit

• I-65 northbound at the North Split

•  I-465 ramps at the Mann Road interchange

•  I-465 northbound ramp to I-70 eastbound on the east side

•  I-465 in both directions between U.S. 31 and I-70 on the northeast side

        Date: Tuesday, April 10 – Friday, April 13, 2007
        Time: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

•  I-65 southbound, between 56th Street and Lafayette Road, will have the right lane and shoulder closed for installation of interstate noise barriers.

        Date: Wednesday, March 21 – October 2007
        Time: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

•  I-69 southbound, just before the S.R. 9 exit near Anderson, will have the right lane closed to repair overhead lighting.

        Date: Tuesday, April 10 – Wednesday, April 11, 2007
        Time: 8 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.

•  I-69, in both directions at the S.R. 238 (Greenfield Ave.) overpass, will have the right shoulder closed to widen the existing bridge.

        Date: Friday, December 15, 2006 – October 2007
        Time: Continuous

•  I-74 and I-465, in both directions from I-465 near I-69 south to I-74 and then southeast on I-74 through Shelby County, will see restrictions in the shoulder, and right lane where needed, where crews are repairing stone drainage ditches and installing guardrail.

        Date: Monday, March 19 – July 2007
        Time: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

•  S.R. 238, between I-69 and Olio Road, will be shifted south with 10-foot lanes for widening work. Occasional daytime restrictions between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. may restrict S.R. 238 to one lane, controlled by flaggers, due to underground pipe installation or construction equipment.

• S.R. 267, between U.S. 40 and I-70, traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction for road reconstruction. Stanley Road will be closed west of S.R. 267 to Southfield Drive until Friday, May 11 for structure replacement and local road improvements.
