Ad Fed awards three $1,000 scholarships

MUNCIE, IN - The Advertising Federation of East Central Indiana awarded three $1,000 scholarships to Robert (Adam) Younger and Catherine Brake, students studying marketing and advertising in the journalism department at Ball State University and Nathan M. Lees a high school student from New Castle, Ind. Scholarships were awarded based on the students’ personal statements, academic records, leadership, citizenship and extracurricular and community activities.

Younger, served an internship at Joseph David Advertising, worked at the Ball State Daily News, and is the marketing director for Domino’s Pizza. Younger was instrumental in helping to increase membership and attendance by 90 percent at Ad Fed luncheon meetings while serving as a member of the Ball State AAF Chapter and AAF Liaison for Ad Fed of ECI Board of Directors 2006-07. His enthusiasm and commitment to the club has strengthened the relationship between Ad Fed and the BSU/AAF Chapter during this past academic year.

Brake is from Newburg, Ind. She is a freshman majoring in marketing with a minor in fashion merchandising at Ball State. She was awarded the Minority Scholarship from Ad Fed. Brake is a member of BSU/AAF, the American Marketing Association and Cardinal Communication a student-run advertising and public relations firm at BSU. She was recently awarded the Louie Award for outstanding freshman for Cardinal Communication. Her goal upon graduation is to work for a nationally known company Proctor and Gamble.

Lees hales from New Castle, Ind. His future plans include further studies in photography with a specialty in commercial photography at the Ohio Institute of Photography and Technology in Dayton, Ohio. Lees has had several of his photos published and won several awards for his work. Upon graduation he plans to focus his work in magazine photography.

Ad Fed of ECI is part of the American Advertising Federation, a national organization that promotes excellence in advertising. The club meets regularly to connect, create and inspire professionals involved in advertising and related fields by holding workshops and programs relevant to those interested and working with students to connect them with professional opportunities. A special thank you is offered to the Ad Fed Education Committee and all club members for supporting the scholarship program.
