Northside Students Place at Mathematics State Contest

MUNCIE, IN - Thirty-three Northside Middle School students participated in the Indiana Council of Teachers of Mathematics State Math Contest April 21 on the Ball State University campus. These students, as well as other middle school students, participated at 14 different sites in the state on this day of math competition.  

The Muncie site winners for NMS were seventh graders Adam Ribblett, who placed second in the Pre-Algebra division, and Colin Ledbetter, who placed third in the Pre-Algebra division. Eighth grader Tyler Oliver placed third in the Algebra Division. Test answers and individual results will be shared with the students’ math teacher.  

According to Kim Batt, NMS math teacher, Northside had the most participants in the BSU contest. Central High School student and former NMS student Alec Ribblett placed first in the Geometry Division.  

Participants included sixth graders Amanda Brown, Austin Hankins, Bethany Jent, Carter McClure, Danielle Romack, Estevon Archuleta, Justin Moreno, Kyle Ross, Michael Young, Billy Young, and Tyler Casey.

Seventh graders included Alexandria Smart, Jennifer Smart, Jennifer Rodriguez, Colin Ledbetter, Jacob Moreno, Adam Ribblett, Victoria Archuleta and Nathan Smith.

Eighth graders included Cin-Quea Pegues, Tyler Quast, Blake Lamirand, Ad Rajagapol, Peter Nahm, Tyler Oliver, Elijah Hillman, David Clark II, Randy Ruble, Phillip Mayan and Doran Mathias.
