Muncie Free Press Meet-Up

Woot. The Day is here. A couple more hours. Who will show up?

We're expecting anywhere from 10 to 20 people. We'll be happy if half a dozen show up. Should be an interesting day, though.

I may leave updates here throughout the day. And of course we'll have photos and maybe video later. I guess this post is a virtual place for people who can't attent the first meet-up. (Yes, we'll be having more this summer. And eventually, we'll have these in more towns...)

Stay tuned for more...

what a day!

Well, it's over. Quite a few people showed up at various times throughout the day. Thanks to everyone who travelled from near and far to hang out for a while. And for those who missed this one, there will be another one as the MFP community extends to the 'real world' beyond this website.

Meanwhile, here are a few pics from throughout the day:

Fun times

It was definitely good to meet up and touch base, despite the brevity. I'd like to have more frequent meetings with you to discuss potential goings on in Muncie like what we discussed today, including video camera stuff and the police scanner thing. I'll be scrutinizing the site soon and trying to come up with complaints. ( :

Yeah

I think that's a great idea, and they'll almost definitely be down with it. I can talk to Mike about it this Wednesday at the meeting.

that would be great...

if you could talk to him about it wednesday.

i wouldn't want to take over that meeting, so having it seperate would be good. at least until we acquire office space in muncie-town.

anyone else have thoughts on this?

idear from Becca

this also came out of the first meet-up. a suggestion to run a weekly 'photo riddle' (a whats-it type of thing) where people shoot from odd angles or close up and everyone else has to guess what it is. i could probably do one or two to get it started, but would any other photogs be interested? once a week too often? what day should it run?

input appreciated.

Sorry I couldn't make it

I had testing that day and my wife made plans for me to be back in Richmond that evening. I look forward to meeting everyone.

When?

Do you have a certain day of the week in mind for this? I'm almost positive that they'll be fine with it, so I'd like to be able to request a specific day/time. Thursdays and the weekends get kind of busy, and Wednesdays are used for Full Circle meetings. So I think ideal would be Mondays or Tuesdays somewhere between 5 and 9.

What would be good for everybody? Again, it's not a sure shot that it'll be ok'ed, but I'm pretty confident. They're all about getting the ball rolling with Full Circle, which happens to own the space in question.

And if for some reason meeting in the upstairs isn't approved, Graham's office is available for our use as well. It's less spacious by far, but it's definitely available. Graham's in Romania himself but appointed me "Vice Phantom" while he's gone.

Mondays or Tuesdays

would work for me. Maybe in the afternoon sometime? If not we might just meet at Blue Bottle or somewhere else if there aren't a lot of us in the beginning...

Anyone else out there in MFP land interested in this?
