Anderson Extreme Skate Plaza Opens Monday
ANDERSON, IN - Mayor Kevin S. Smith will preside over the grand opening of the Anderson Extreme Skateboard Plaza at Mays Park, Madison Avenue and West 10th Streets, Monday, May 14 at 5 p.m. The Anderson skate park is a “street influenced” park, styled after one in Kettering, Ohio, according to Parks Urban Forester Tamera Doty-Davis.
As a fundraiser for future amenities to the skate park, skate gear, provided by the Tony Hawk Foundation, will be raffled. Prizes will include a skate deck, t-shirts, jerseys, caps, a stocking hat, DVDs, stickers, a key chain, wallet and two decks of cards. Raffle tickets will cost $1 per ticket or 6 for $5. Prizes will be awarded at the conclusion of the grand opening.
Site Design Group, designer of the Kettering Park, is responsible for the Anderson park as well. The park covers 16,000 square feet and is primarily for use by skateboards and roller blades.
