Muncie Children's Museum Friends & Family Fun Night for June Focuses on Safety
MUNCIE, IN - The Muncie Children’s Museum offers free admission to “Celebrating Safe Communities” in honor of National Safety Month on Friday, June 1, 2007, from 3-7 p.m., as a part of the Museum's monthly admission Friends and Family Fun Night event.
Celebrating Safe Communities promotes safe and healthy behaviors in children and their families that will protect them from harm in all aspects of their lives.
This Friends and Family Fun Night offers children and families the opportunity to participate in fun and educational safety programs conducted by the American Red Cross, Kids BMV, SAFE KIDS, Muncie Children’s Museum educators, YMCA staff and the Indiana State Police.
Families and children can participate in informational programs and activities about:
- Bike Safety—Including a melon drop activity
- Water Safety
- First Aid & CPR
- Poison Safety
- Internet safety
- Safety Awareness poster contest
The Kids BMV will be on hand, from 4-7 p.m., to provide free ID’s for all children who attend. The Kids BMV ID cards provide up-to-date information and guardian contact information, which serves as a lifeline for a child in case of an emergency. Derek Ruttan, agency owner of All State Insurance Company, and the Muncie Children’s Museum are sponsoring the Kids BMV ID Program.
Throughout the evening children and families will have a chance to showcase their artistic abilities by making posters that promote different aspects of safety awareness. Posters will be judged at 6:30 p.m. The Muncie Children’s Museum staff will vote on the top three finalists; family passes to the Museum will be awarded to the winners.
2007 Friends and Family Fun Night are sponsored by The Ball Brothers Foundation, Indiana Michigan Power and the Peyback Foundation.
