2007 Lilly Endowment Scholars Named
MUNCIE, IN - The has selected the following two Delaware County seniors to receive 2007 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarships.
- Benjamin Craw, a senior at Muncie Southside High School, plans to study secondary education at Butler University. He is the son of Diane Craw.
- Elizabeth Quinn Ratchford, a senior at Yorktown High School, plans to study communications (broadcast journalism) at DePauw University. She is the daughter of Robert and Polly Ratchford.
Created in 1998, the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program provides funds for Indiana community foundations to offer four-year undergraduate scholarships to students within the counties they serve. Since 1998, 40 Delaware County students have been named Lilly Endowment Community Scholars.
Scholarships are awarded to two Delaware County residents who will have graduated by the end of June 2007 with a diploma from an accredited Delaware County high school and who have been accepted to pursue a full-time baccalaureate course of study beginning in the Fall of 2007 at an accredited public or private college or university in Indiana.
The scholarships provide full tuition, required fees and a special allocation of up to $800 per year for books and required equipment for four years of undergraduate study.
In selecting Lilly Endowment Community Scholars, consideration is given to student activities and achievements, community and civic service, academic ability and potential for leadership.
As nominees for the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship, the following students will each receive $1,000 scholarships from The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc.: Minda A. Beaty, Daniel P. Buis, Kristin A. Crider, Joseph G. Edwards, Tiffany C. Gehrke, MaryAnne E. Guarnery, KyLeigh A. Harnish, Naomi L. Huffman, Derek T. Johnson, Kristin K. Johnson, Nicholas W. Leonard, Lauren E. Letsinger, Jessica C. Mullins, Spencer J. Ozbun, Melanie R. Rapp, Joseph W. Slabaugh, Laura A. Smith, Rachel V. Snell, Elliot S. Spengler.
