Governor Mitch Daniels Names Higher Education Leaders
INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Governor Mitch Daniels today announced appointments to the boards of four public colleges and universities to replace members whose terms have expired. The list includes several reappointments, as well as student trustees at various state institutions.
Ball State University
Kellie Conrad, of Indianapolis, a telecommunications major, will serve a two-year term as student trustee (7/1/09). She is a volunteer with the Art With a Heart program and serves as a member of the Telecommunications Student Advisory Committee at Ball State.
Indiana State University
There were four vacancies, including an alumni vacancy (which must be confirmed by the governor) and a student trustee vacancy.
- Norman Lowery, of Terre Haute, was reappointed to serve a four-year term (7/1/11). He is president and CEO of First Financial Bank, N.A. and vice chairman and CEO of First Financial Corporation. Lowery is a former president of the Greater Terre Haute Economic Development Corporation.
- Joyce Rogers, of Indianapolis, was appointed to serve a four-year term (7/1/11). She is president and CEO of Indiana Black Expo and currently serves on the board of directors for the United Way of Central Indiana.
- Ron Carpenter, of Indianapolis, was selected by the Indiana State University Alumni Council to serve a second four-year term (7/1/10) as an alumni member. He is president and CEO of the Children’s Bureau of Indianapolis, Inc. and works as a consultant for the Indiana Justice Task Force.
- Amy Huntsinger, of Frankton, a public relations major, will serve a two-year term (7/1/09) as student trustee. She was a member of the Student Government Association and currently serves as co-chair of the Vigo County College Relay for Life.
University of Southern Indiana
There were three vacancies, including a student position on the board of trustees.
-  Jeff Knight, of Evansville, was reappointed to serve a four-year term (7/1/11). He is executive vice president, chief legal counsel and corporate secretary for Old National Bank.
-  Ted Ziemer, of Evansville, was appointed to serve a four-year term (7/1/11). He is a partner at Ziemer, Stayman, Weitzel & Shoulders, LLP and is a past chairman of the board of trustees of the University of Southern Indiana (USI) Foundation.
-  Jaime Johnson, of Newburgh, a chemistry major, will serve a two-year term as student trustee (7/1/09). She has served as the administrative vice president for academic affairs for the Student Government Association and received the 2007 USI Foundation Excellence in Learning Award.
Vincennes University
Ian Barrett, of Edwardsport, a business administration major, will serve a one-year term as student trustee (7/1/08). He is a member of the student senate and is chair of Youth Leadership Knox County’s Project Graduation program.
