Muncie Man Named by Governor to Indiana Commission for Higher Education

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Governor Mitch Daniels on Monday announced four appointments to the Indiana Commission for Higher Education to replace members whose terms have expired. This includes one reappointment, Robert Bowen of Fishers, as an at-large member of the Commission.

The Commission is a fourteen-member public body which serves as a coordinating agency for Indiana’s state-supported system of higher education.

The following appointments are effective immediately:

  • Jud Fisher, of Muncie, will serve a four-year term (7/1/11) representing the 6th Congressional District. He is the executive associate director of the Ball Brothers Foundation and received his undergraduate degree from DePauw University.
  • Robert L. Bowen, of Fishers, has been reappointed to the commission and will serve a four-year term (7/1/11) as an at-large member. He is founder of Bowen Engineering Corporation and currently serves on the board of directors for the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and the Center for Leadership Development. Bowen earned his undergraduate degree from Purdue University
  • George Rehnquist, of Princeton, will serve a four-year term (7/1/11) representing the 8th Congressional District. He is past vice chairman of the national board of the YMCA of the USA and currently serves as president of the Gibson County Tourism and Visitors Bureau. Rehnquist earned his undergraduate degree from DePauw University and his law degree from Indiana University – Bloomington.
  • Kathleen Tobin, Ph.D., of Hammond, will serve a two-year term (7/1/09) as faculty representative. Tobin is an associate professor of Latin American Studies at Purdue University Calumet. She earned her master’s degree from Purdue University Calumet and her doctorate from the University of Chicago.
