Senator Sue Errington Appointed to Serve on National Committee
INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Senate President Pro Tempore David Long has appointed State Senator Sue Errington (D-Muncie) to serve on the National Conference of State Legislature’s (NCSL) Standing Committee on Health.
NCSL’s 11 standing committees are similar in structure to those of committees within state legislatures. Membership consists of state legislators and legislative staff. Standing committees meet three times each year and allow members to benefit from the experiences of other states in shaping public policy, experimenting with new laws and managing the legislative institutions. NCSL’s policy positions and lobbying efforts in Washington, D.C. are also guided by the work of these committees.
Â
The Standing Committee on Health has jurisdiction over issues pertaining to Medicaid, Medicare, children’s health, long term care, AIDS/HIV, bioterrorism, pharmaceutical drugs, mental health, managed care, maternal and child health, health insurance, preventive medicine, health information technology and substance abuse.
Â
NCSL is a bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staffs of the nation’s 50 states, its commonwealths and territories. NCSL provides research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues. NCSL is also an effective and respected advocate for the interests of state governments before Congress and federal agencies.
