More Site News: My MFP

I don't think I mentioned the 'My MFP' section much when I launched it a while back. I wanted to see if anyone would use it. A few did. It was kind of buggy, though. There have been some updates, though, and I'm adding things to it and cleaning it up a little.

Basically, it lets you create your very own version of MFP that you can use as your start page here. You could include some national news, all stories about Muncie, all stories about Yorktown Government, etc. Also a way to hone in on content being created by your favorite contributors on the site.

In any case, just a quick shout to say I'm tinkering again. I like the idea. Most of the hard work has been done by another newspaper company called Morris. It's a great tool, though, for you to get the most out of your time here at MFP. You know what information you want from the site more than I know what you want!

As always, leave comments or questions below or email them.

Thanks,
kpaul

Oops, forgot to add...

You can see an example of my 'My MFP' page here. All the other My MFP pages are also viewable so you can look at what other people find important - if they want you to (as in you can turn your 'My MFP page' into a private thing...) Note, though, that if you don't have a user account here at MFP, aren't signed in, or are on someone else's My MFP Page, it won't be interactive.

That is, once you have an account, are signed in, and are on your My MFP Page, you'll be able to drag and drop the little 'boxes' of content, create new ones, etc. Expect a lot more of this type of thing in the future - giving more control over what content you come into contact with...

Terminology and Jargon

The My MFP is pretty powerful, but can be kinda overwhelming when you first start to use it. If you have questions, let me know.

If you see anything on this list at Google, let me know, and we can add it as a 'droplet' that you can add to your My MPP page.

Adding a 'category' will let you add any of the tags in use here at MFP - for example, 'muncie community schools', or anything found here. (And if you start typing in the box, a dropdown will appear with what tags are in use at MFP...)

As I said, this is a powerful feature that hasn't been used much yet. Help me make it easier to use and understand.
