Welsh vs. Pence 2.0: Barry Welsh Announces Run From YearlyKos Convention

CHICAGO, IL - Barry Welsh formally announced his candidacy for Indiana's 6th Congressional District tonight at The Annual Yearly Kos Convention in Chicago setting up Welsh vs. Pence 2.0 in November of 2008.
Welsh came from being a virtual unknown to getting 40% of the vote in 2006 for the seat currently held by Mike Pence and is confident of momentum for the upcoming campaign.
The announcement was received with loud cheering from the national audience and as part of his brief remarks, Welsh said "We took People Powered Politics to a new level in 2006 and I am very proud of what we accomplished. We ran a campaign of People Before Profits and I still believe in that. In 2006 we gained name recognition and voter trust, now it is time to finish the job."
Welsh also said "…Mike Pence, the guy who in a Congressional junket to Iraq earlier this year described Baghdad's Shorja market as 'like a normal outdoor market in Indiana in the summertime.' "I don't know about you, but I've never had to have combat helicopters and armed troops escort me while I was trying to buy some Indiana Sweet Corn . It's time to put Pence over the Fence and out to pasture where he and his backward conservative ideas belong."
During last week's vote, Pence was the only Indiana Congressman to vote against Police and Firefighters unionizing.
Upon return to Indiana, Barry Welsh will be conducting a listening tour of the district and will commence with fundraising events and personal appearances at area gatherings.

Welcome, prayingforchange...
Good to see you here, however you found us.
At MFP, I try to give all the parties their fair say. The homepage over the weekend has has something from the three major parties in Indiana (yes, I count the libertarians.) In any case, I want to try to benefit the citizens by allowing all three parties (and others) to give their (civilized) opinion on what's happening politically in the wonderful state of Indiana.
In any case, again, welcome. Let me know what I can do to make your stay here better.
