Recent Indiana Boards and Commissions Appointments
INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The following are recently announced appointments to different Indiana boards and commissions.
State Ethics Commission
The commission receives complaints, initiates investigations, holds public hearings, decides if ethics violations have occurred and recommends or imposes appropriate sanctions.
Membership: The governor appoints five commissioners to four-year terms. They may not be elected officials, state employees or lobbyists.
Governor’s appointment:
Honorable Sue Shields (Noblesville), retired U.S. magistrate judge and former Indiana Court of Appeals judge.
Shields will fill the remainder of a term that expires September 1, 2009.
Gaming CommissionThe commission’s purpose is to license and regulate riverboat gambling in Indiana and ensure compliance with applicable statutes, rules and regulations.
Membership: The governor appoints seven commissioners to three-year terms. The commission must contain at least one member who is a certified public accountant, one member with law enforcement experience and one member who is an attorney.
Governor’s appointment:
Mary Shy (Lawrenceburg), quality manager for Lûcrum Incorporated.
Shy will fill the remainder of a term that expires September 1, 2009.
Lottery Commission
The commission oversees the operation of the lottery and serves as a resource group for the director, providing the director with private sector perspectives on the operation of a large marketing enterprise.
Membership: The governor appoints five commissioners to four-year terms.
Governor’s appointment:
Gregory M. Fitzloff (Georgetown), retired, formerly served as president of the Southern Indiana Chamber of Commerce.
Fitzloff will fill the remainder of a term that expires July 1, 2009.
Indiana Port Commission
The commission was created to promote the agricultural, industrial and commercial development of the state and to provide for the general welfare by the construction and operation of a modern port system.
Membership: The governor appoints seven commissioners to four-year terms. The commission meets bi-monthly.
Governor’s appointments:
Ken Kaczmarek (Bloomington), certified public accountant for Eliott & Assosciates, has been reappointed to the commission. Kaczmarek was first appointed in 2005 and currently serves as the chair of the commission.
Dave Fagan (Portage), financial secretary for International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150. Fagan also recently served on the Portage City Council.
Terms expire July 1, 2011.
