Governor Daniels Appoints David Reynolds As State Student Assistance Commission Executive Director

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Governor Mitch Daniels today appointed David Reynolds as executive director of the State Student Assistance Commission of Indiana (SSACI).  Reynolds currently serves as the deputy budget director for the state’s budget agency.  He will begin his new duties on August 27.

SSACI provides need-based grants and scholarships to Hoosiers attending Indiana colleges and universities to pursue four- or two-year degrees.  The agency awards nearly $250 million annually to approximately 50,000 students.

Reynolds is a graduate of Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne with a degree in business administration.  A long-time state employee, Reynolds has served as the state’s deputy budget director since 2001.  Prior to that position, he was a budget analyst for the Indiana House Ways and Means Committee and worked as an analyst for the State Budget Agency.

Dennis Obergfell, SSACI’s current interim executive director, will resume his duties as the agency’s deputy director.

Adam Horst, a director of the state’s Government Efficiency and Financial Planning office since January 2005, will replace Reynolds as deputy budget director.  Horst earned his undergraduate degree at Dartmouth College and holds a master’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
