The Star Press Does Good Work
While they are owned by a large corporation based in the East Coast, there are a lot of great people doing good journalism at The Star Press. I know I tend to by harsh toward them sometimes, but only because they have so many resources and so much potential! In any case, I wanted to again acknowledge that they are providing a service to the community. For now they're the biggest game in town, able to offer a wide range of news and services for the community. Being owned by a large corporation (a Goliath like Gannett) has both pros and cons.
To all the people who are over worked and underpaid at The Star Press, MFP salutes you and can offer you anonymity here at Muncie Free Press - sanctuary if you will. We "commit acts of journalism" daily here at MFP, so I'm sure your identity could be hidden/protected. I would fight for it anyway.
In other news, I've added a few new 'gigs' to the Volunteer/Freelance section. (Any groovy ideas on a name for that?)
Shout out to Craig Mayes and Chuck Bowden, the dynamic duo in Anderson. Doing some great grassroots journalism!
Where are the MFP people? Are you going to let AFP, the sister site to MFP, out content you?! Speaking of which, is MFP (and AFP for that matter) male or female? Does it matter? Heh. It's late. Maybe it will spark a discussion, though.
The Muncie Visitor's Bureau is sponsoring a Photo Contest (with Indiana Films and The Star Press - another dynamic duo? heh.) - should we do something similar? I've been thinking about it for a while now. Just hard to do too many things at the same time.
Jomo is out there selling, though. I'm in the 'office' processing content. And all of the great contributors out there are sending in content. We can do this, fellow Hoosiers. I really think we can. I have hope.
That's about it, I think, for now.
