INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Indiana State Police troopers investigated a one vehicle crash off I-465 this morning that leveled an Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) camera tower.

Troopers Justin Hobbs and Adam Buchta (Indianapolis District) investigated the crash that occurred at 10:30 a.m. this morning, involving a concrete mixer loaded with nine yards of cement was eastbound on I-465 exiting onto Harding Street. The vehicle left the south side of the ramp crashed through a sign, traveled down the embankment, struck a tree then crashed into an INDOT camera tower.

Harry C. Jackson age 34, 281 Andrews Boulevard Plainfield, Indiana was driving the concrete mixer owned by Shelbyville Gravel Incorporated and was trapped in the vehicle until Perry Township Fire Rescue freed him. Jackson was taken to Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis with minor injuries. He told troopers he intended to exit onto Kentucky Avenue but missed the exit, and decided to exit onto Harding Street and double back when the crash occurred.

The 100 foot I.N.D.O.T. tower contains a camera at the top and a small building at the base, fell after the mixer crashed into it, destroying both. The camera is used by I.N.D.O.T. Traffic Management Center to monitor traffic at the I.N.D.O.T. facility located at 21st and Post Road.
