Spring Mill's "Scarecrow Weekend" offers fun and frights

MITCHELL, IN - Spring Mill State Park will offer two days full of fun and frights during "Scarecrow Weekend" on October 13 and 14. Scarecrows will arise, pumpkins will transform, and things will go "screech in the night" during a wide array of programs and activities.

One highlight is the 2nd annual "Costume and Candy Parade" at 4:30pm on Saturday. Costumed campers will parade through the campground handing out goodies to our other park visitors (costumed pets are also welcome to join in the parade!).

The Pioneer Village, Nature Center, and Twin Caves boat tours will all close early at 4pm on Saturday to prepare for our popular "Haunted Village," which will open at 7:30pm. Parents should note that the "Haunted Village" is designed for older children and adults.

The fun and frights continue on Sunday with snakes, a scarecrow craft, pottery and other programs at both the Pioneer Village and Nature Center.

For a complete schedule of programs and activities during "Scarecrow Weekend," visit the DNR website at www.interpretiveservices.IN.gov/programs or call the Nature Center at 812-849-4129. The park entrance fee of $5 per vehicle for Indiana residents or $7 per vehicle for out-of-state visitors will apply.
