Huntingburg Man Killed in Single Vehicle Crash
DUBOIS COUNTY, IN - Monday, October 8, at approximately 10:31 CDT Indiana State Police out of the Jasper Post responded to CR 100W near the Huntingburg Conservation Club for a vehicle crash.
Preliminary Investigation by Master Trooper Paul Bastin and Trooper Justin Bean revealed that a 2002 Chevrolet driven by Dustin L. Kelley 18, Huntingburg had been traveling south on CR 100W just north of the Huntingburg Conservation Club. The vehicle crested a hill and traveled off the west edge of the roadway. It appears that Dustin overcorrected and the vehicle left the east edge of the roadway becoming airborne. The 2002 Chevrolet came to rest after hitting a tree.
Dustin Kelley was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dubois County Coroner's Office. The 2002 Chevrolet was a total loss.
The Indiana State Police would like to remind people that if your vehicle's tires travel off the roadway not to panic and jerk the steering wheel. Instead steadily steer the vehicle back onto the roadway. This will greatly increase your chances of maintaining control.
The Indiana State Police were assisted at the scene by the St. Henry Volunteer Fire Department and Memorial EMS.
