Bayh Secures More Than $55 Million for Indiana Companies, Universities to Support Nation's Troops
WASHINGTON DC - U.S. Senator Evan Bayh announced last Friday, October 12, that he has helped secure more than $55 million for Indiana companies and universities to support the mission of the nation’s military. The funding was included in the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Appropriations bill for fiscal year 2008, which the Senate unanimously approved last week.
“The research and development being done by Indiana companies and our universities plays a significant role in making sure our nation’s military has what it needs to successfully carry out its mission, both at home and on the front lines,” Senator Bayh said. “Indiana’s strong base of manufacturers, along with our growing high-tech sector, are creating and producing innovative and highly effective equipment, vehicles and other devices that are used every day by the men and women serving in our armed forces. These funds add fuel to our state’s economy, but more importantly help ensure our troops’ success, as well as their safety.”
Senator Bayh is a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.
