House to Vote on Boucher-Pence Federal Media Shield Bill Tomorrow
WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Congressman Mike Pence issued the following statement today announcing that the Free Flow of Information Act is scheduled for consideration by the U.S. House of Representatives for the first time ever tomorrow. The legislation, also called the federal media shield bill, was originally authored by Pence.
“This vote is an important first step toward repairing a tear in the First Amendment’s guarantee of freedom of the press. The only check on government power in real time is a free and independent press. This bill is not about protecting reporters but about protecting the public’s right to know. I urge the House to pass this bipartisan federal media shield bill,” said Pence.
