Central High School Alumni Association Hosts Morry Mannies at Awards Dinner
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Muncie Central High School Alumni Association will host its annual awards dinner and meeting Friday, November 2, in the Muncie Central High School cafeteria. Morry Mannies, former Central High School teacher and long-time commentator of Bearcat sporting events, will be the keynote speaker.
Cost for this year’s dinner program is $15. Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner at 6:00 p.m. and the recognition program. During the program, this year’s Distinguished Alumni Award will be presented and the board of directors will conduct the Association’s annual business meeting. Reservations are required. Please make checks payable to Muncie Central Alumni Association and send to Maryann Marlow, 4609 West Copperfield Drive, Muncie, IN 47304 by October 29.
The Memorabilia Room in the Fieldhouse will be open for tours from 5:00-6:00 p.m., with free trolley service offered between the high school and the Fieldhouse. Maryann Marlow, 1966, is the chairperson of this year’s committee. Other committee members are: Marilyn Carey, 1947; John Feick, 1969; Jim Reese, 1964; Pat Styles, 1948; Sue Templin, 1954; Idamae Waid, 1938; and Evelyn Wilson, 1938.
Since 1966, the organization has grown to include hundreds of former Bearcats. Through membership dues and other generous donations from individuals and classes, the Alumni Association continues to be able to promote Muncie Central High School programs and projects. The Association also provides scholarships for graduating seniors, stipends to Central High School teachers, and participates in special projects that enhance the high school’s image in the community.
