Bombings in Baghdad Kill 6; Police Fight Militants in Karbala

BAGHDAD, IRAQ - Iraqi police say a series of bomb blasts in Baghdad have killed at least six people and wounded more than 20 others.

In one of Monday's attacks, a roadside bomb struck a minibus in central Baghdad's Karradah neighborhood, killing three people.

In another incident, two bombs exploded in a square in the capital's southeastern Zafaraniyah district, killing three. The second bomb went off as police arrived to investigate the first blast.

Elsewhere, Iraqi officials say police killed six Shi'ite militants in a battle in the holy city of Karbala Sunday.

Meanwhile, Iraqi police said Monday that gunmen killed an adviser to a senior Sunni politician in Baghdad Thursday. The adviser, Ahmed al-Mashhadani. worked for the leader of parliament's main Sunni bloc, Adnan al-Dulaimi.
