BSUDN Columnist: Libertarians misguided with good intentions

Marxism, fascism????
From the article: "Libertarianism - particularly its economics - bears some troubling similarities to Marxism, fascism and anarchism."
I understand that there are people who are opposed to the freedom that libertarianism offers, and to the personal responsibility that it requires. I don't agree with them, but I realize they have formed opinions that are different from mine.
I don't know if Mr. DeArment simply doesn't understand the basic principles, as he compares it to Marxism and fascism, or when he implies that libertarians dictate economic policies. I do know he is either mis-informed or dishonest.
I also know he has the right to be both.
Re: Marxism, Fascism??
Well, Rex, I have to confess that I'm not the most knowledgeable individual when it comes to the Libertarian Party, but I do know enough to recognize someone who is being disingenuous and Mr. DeArment's silence to the many responses he has received speaks volumes.
If he wants to see the makings of Marxism and Fascism, I suggest he take a look at some of the things Hillary and other Democratic Presidential hopefuls are proposing.
And anarchism
He compares Libertarianism to Marxism, facism, and Anarchism. It seems to me that (intentionally or otherwise) he selected the three political philosophies that tend to evoke the strongest knee-jerk reactions, and he drew comparisons that don´t logically exist. It´d be difficult to draw strong comparisons between all three Marxism, Facism, and Anarchism, let alone between those three and Libertarianism.
My favorite part is this quote:¨Paul is a long-shot candidate, but the amount of attention he has received indicates a specter is haunting Ball State: the specter of libertarianism.¨
Specter? Does that strike anyone else as hilarious terminology? The ¨specter of libertarianism¨ probably does lunch with the wraith of republicanism and the demon of democracy. I think you guys should run with this, Rex. A specter could beat up a donkey or elephant any day.
