I would think the sooner the better. We are not the WORLDS Police .  We are not responsible for every woe of the world . We need to spend more of that CHARITY money on our OWN people . There are to many kids going to bed tonight without a meal on our own soil . Let us take care of that war !! The war on poverty

Withdrawal of Troops

It is absolutely true, that we (the American People and the United States of America) ARE NOT the world's Police Agency.  We decided that back in the League of Nations and it's successor the United Nations by being "Only a Part" of a larger whole.

We are the "Only Super-Power" with the Technology and seemingly interest to "Intervene" at times with developing or struggling democracies around the world.  But maybe even that is too much to ask of us.. . . . .unless we see the majority of internal inhabitants want a free-er form of government.  Otherwise it remains a "Civil War" and internal domestic situation.  We can do better helping those that would leave a repressive or oppressive regime then to try to import our form of government on a people that would not know or care to do what we do with our form of government.

Internal struggle is different then escaping oppression.  We as a Nation of People "escaped Oppression of the Old World" to come and take our chances in the New World and form a different Kind of government then "existed" back then.  From that time til now we see Governments coming and going but, the same old mess seemingly keeps surfacing.  Our single best use of our talents, services, and abilities is in small "Strike Force" insertion and extraction and helping others move out of oppressive areas and into receptive ones where they can "freely Choose" to live a different way.

Our second best ability is to work within the Nations to be the best example we can be to others.  Our current export of our National Policy should never degrade a people while trying to "free" them from oppression.  If that can't or we won't do that\; then leave it alone.

Another "Reality" we should face, is that we should NOT PARTICIPATE in any effort overseas unless we are prepared to "ESCALATE" it to the level of a World War.  One in which the winner takes all and redesigns what is conquered.  E.g.  Germany, Japan, Marshal Plan type.  That means we must be willing to go to war with the Likes of China, Russia or whatever in an effort to affect a change in places like N. Korea and N. Vietnam or like locations.

Simply stated; look at the strike distance of missiles and air force or carrier forces and you will see the lines of engagement have changed to make lines of sovereignty less simple to enforce or for that matter recognise.  We didn't and wouldn't  go against China in Korea or Vietnam, and won't against Iran.  So much of what we want to do in foreign policy is Super Power Impotent posturing.

We indeed should support the Troops and their Families and the Veterans who Honorably Serve and served.  No Matter what the Politicians do.
