DNR Looking to Buy a Few Good Acorns
INDIANA - The DNR Division of Forestry's Nursery Program, wants to buy acorns from several different oak species. If you have the right kind of tree, you could make some money.
The program distributes 4 million seedlings annually to Indiana citizens for reforestation, wildlife enhancement, wind-break establishment and erosion control. All seedlings are grown from seed, much of which is collected from local sources throughout Indiana's landscape.
Payment is based upon a per-good-seed basis from a thorough test of the seed lot brought to the DoF. Species must be kept separate and not mixed among the different oak species.
The following is a list of species requested and price paid per good seed:
| Species: | Price per good seed |
| Chinkapin Oak | $0.0250 |
| Bur Oak | $0.0300 |
| White Oak | $0.0175 |
| Swamp Chestnut Oak | $0.0250 |
