Toot, toot....
When I was growing up, our phone number was Swathmore 9-2442. If we had an area code, I never new what it was. I guess I never needed it anyway. Sometimes if you wanted to make a call, you had to wait for Barnes sisters down the road to get off of the line, and sometimes that took forever.
It was a far cry from the communication system we have today. I was dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century when we connected to the internet in 2002. After 5 years my e-skills pretty much consist of not much more than sending and receiving e-mails and posting on a blog.
I'm still amazed by some of the possibilities, though. Last week, I received an e-mail from a reporter at the Miami Herald. It seems a Cooper City Commissioner, John Sims, has been posting writings on his blog, and forgeting to mention that he didn't write them. Apparently one of his entries was a column I had written a couple of months ago about government and taxes.

I'd never heard of Cooper City, and I doubt if Mr.Sims had ever heard of Hagerstown. I don't know how he found my column, but I'm flattered he thought it was good enough to borrow. And if he makes any money off of it, I hope he'll send a couple of bucks my way, to help with my property taxes.

Wow, I hadn't
heard about this. (Talk about the Internet being a large place...)
You tell the Pal-Item folks about this? (Be sure to mention MFP if you do and if you can. ;)
