Installation of Raised Pavement Markings (RPMs) complete in Northwest Indiana

Restrictions have been lifted in the following counties in Northwest Indiana

JASPER, LAKE, LAPORTE, MARSHALL, PORTER, PULASKI, ST. JOSEPH and WHITE COUNTIES - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces the completion of a Raised Pavement Markings (RPMs) installation project on various state roads in northwest Indiana.

Locations where RPMs were installed include:

  • On 24.7 miles of I-80/94 between State Road 51 (S.R. 51) in Porter County and U.S. 20/U.S. 35 in LaPorte County;
  • On 13.5 miles of U.S. 12 between State Road 149 (S.R. 149) in Porter County and Pine Street in Michigan City;
  • On 28 miles of U.S. 20 between U.S. 35 in LaPorte County and the U.S. 31 Bypass in St. Joseph County.
  • On 20 miles of State Road 2 (S.R. 2) between Bosserman Street in LaPorte and the U.S. 31 Bypass in South Bend;
  • On 5.4 miles of State Road 10 (S.R. 10) between U.S. 231 and State Road 49 (S.R. 49) in Jasper County;
  • On 11.2 miles of State Road 23 (S.R. 23) between State Road 4 (S.R. 4) and the U.S. 31 Bypass in St. Joseph County;
  • On 2.9 miles of U.S. 30 between the Illinois state line and U.S. 41 in Lake County;
  • On 7.8 miles of U.S. 31 between S.R. 10 and U.S. 30 in Marshall County;
  • On 9.3 miles of S.R. 49 between State Road 8 (S.R. 8) and U.S. 30 in Porter County;
  • On 4.9 miles of U.S. 231 between U.S. 41 in Lake County and Horst Road in Crown Point;
  • On 11 miles of U.S. 231 between the east junction of State Road 55 (S.R. 55) in Crown Point and the north junction of S.R. 2 in Hebron;
  •  On 11.4 miles of U.S. 231 between S.R. 8 in Hebron and the east junction of S.R. 10 in Jasper County;
  • On 3 miles of State Road 331 (S.R. 331) between 13th Trail in Bourbon and S.R. 10 in Marshall County;
  • On 8.2 miles of U.S. 421 between U.S. 24 and State Road 16 (S.R. 16) in White County;
  • On 18 miles of U.S. 421 in Pulaski, Starke and LaPorte counties between the north junction of State Road 14 (S.R. 14) and S.R. 8.

Construction began in September 2007. The improved roadways will enhance motorist safety and mobility. The mentioned roadways are open to unrestricted traffic, excluding any changes after final inspection.
