Practice Bomb Falls From F/A-18C Hornet in Virginia

NORFOLK, VA - A small, inert training bomb carried aboard an F/A-18C Hornet fell from the aircraft at about 12:15 on Oct. 30 as it was returning to NAS Oceana following a training mission at the Navy's Dare County, N.C., bombing range. The training bomb impacted a wall adjacent to a warehouse on Lynnhaven Road in Virginia Beach.

There were no injuries to any personnel on the ground and minimal damage was reported to the wall.

Navy personnel are on scene at this time.

The aircraft landed safely at NAS Oceana.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
