Your Publisher's Musical Tastes
They're varied, I'll tell you that. Small smile. I have to tell you I've become addicted to Pandora when I found it a while back, so use it with caution. And it's all legit, above the board, legal, etc. You can even buy a gadget to stream the music from it to your home stereo. Not having a home stereo at the moment, my computer speakers (and obligatory subwoofer) do well enough for now, though.
In any case, basically, Pandora is a side product of the Music Genome Project. Like the human genome project, people are mapping the genomes of music. So, for every song and artist they have different variables - used bass, simple lyrics, etc. etc.
The beauty is you don't have to understand any of the underlying technology. Basically, you sign-up for an account and 'create a station.' For that, you type in the name of a musician, band, or a particular song. Pandora will then start to stream (commercial free) music that is *similar* (depending on those thousands of genomes for music) and play that. You can even mix stations. Pretty cool stuff.
If you're new to online radio, Pandora is something to check out. Very cool.
Here's a continually updating list of music I've bookmarked while listening to the stations I've created.
