Rokita to Dispatch Oversight Teams Statewide on Election Day

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - As Indiana residents cast their votes during tomorrow's municipal elections, Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita, the state's chief election officer, will be dispatching teams throughout the state to observe local elections.

Rokita and his deputies will spend the day monitoring Municipal Primaries to ensure that the process is implemented in a fair, efficient, and effective manner. The team will be monitoring polling places for accessibility issues and ensuring that each person and his or her vote are treated equally, including watching for and preventing vote fraud. The monitors will also be responding to calls made to the Hoosier Voter Hotline, 1-866-IN-1-VOTE. Secretary of State office employees staff the Hotline until polls close across the state.

"We expect fair, accurate, and efficient elections but if assistance is needed, we will be ready," Rokita said. "My deputies monitor polling places to instill voter confidence to make sure everyone's vote counts equally. Our deputies are dispatched by the time polls open in the morning and they will continue working throughout the day."

If voters need to check their voter registration or poll location information, they may visit www.IndianaVoters.com or contact the Hoosier Voter Hotline, 1-866-IN-1-VOTE.
