Mementos such as this U.S. flag were left all along the "The Wall" following opening ceremonies commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the Mall in Washington, D.C., Nov. 7, 2002. The opening ceremony kicked off a four day event where volunteers read all 58,229 names inscribed on "The Wall" of service members killed during the Vietnam conflict.
