Gotta Love BACKSTAGE
John Mellencamp's Bassist Jon Ganell ,myself & my ex-bandmate from (1980's) Ten-O-One , Troye Kinnett share some time hangin out before the show in Rockford , Illinois Nov 14th . It was my last chance to see Troye ,since the rest of the shows are more than 7 hours away .

Nice Small Arena , No BAD seats

It was too KOOL as I like to put it !!! I hadn't seen Troye since my Pacreatic operation back in July of 2004 . So he was doing studio stuff and playing with " Cook & Bell " when they were touring. He still occasionally plays some shows with them but the Mellencamp Tour is heading Northeast and to CANADA so Rockford was the last place close ( 5Hours )607 miles) anyway
I just missed Troye when they first pulled up to the ARENA , I was across the street catching a bite and didn't see them pull in . Well after talking to some crew guys and security dudes they descided to let me surprise Troye and let me BACKSTAGE before I even got my PASSES, so I walked next to the stage ( he had his back to me) but he saw the smile on Bassist John Ganell face as he instantly recognized me even after all these years. They were soundchecking a brand new song that highly reccomend you buy on the next C/D, Something about a pinebox . but I snuck up onstage behind Troye and surprised him with a hug . It was another brotherly moment that makes time seem like you have never been apart, even though it was 20 years ago when we played together in 10:01 ( Ten-O-One ) especially now we have the C/D to release. It is out on iTunes & Napster already ,but hopefully will be in stores this summer . I am trying to put some video together for the songs to make a DVD. It will be on my label RebelCat Records Inc. ( Southside & Central ( I went to both) ) We told stories on the TOUR BUS ,talked about all the music we have made that will never really be heard except by a select few that got SCHOOLBOY CRUSH cassettes when they were available . and how much cost has been reduced with technology. When we first burnt a C/D , you had to RENT the burner ( $ 150 a day ) and blank C/D's were $ 50 a piece . It wasn't cheap , but either was ANOLOG RECORDING like the 10:01 Time To Rock EP . It was suppose to be released on Vynal ( actual records) It was KOOL to see my friend getting all that applause. It definately put a fire under my butt to get busy and DO IT !!!! SouthSide Sound is to good a band to playing for a city that doesn't appreciate how good we really are. We could be PLAYIN' INDY right now , we just choose not too !!
It was a pleasure meeting the other guys and gal in the band . Mr. Mellencamp was fightinga cold but still sounded great . I have been there ,so I know the pain of having to sing while your sick . IT"S NO FUN . So a big THANX to John for not cancelling .
