Knox Woman Arrested for Theft
STARKE COUNTY, IN - Early Tuesday afternoon, Indiana State Police Detective Brian Schnick, arrested a Knox woman for ten (10) counts of theft.
In August 2007, Bailey's Discount Store in North Judson contacted the Indiana State Police about suspicious refunds at its store. Their bank had notified them of suspicious refunds totaling $11, 437.00, that were given to credit cards (all issued to the same person), with offsetting sales (no purchases).
Investigation revealed that from 2004 until 2007 their were numerous suspicious transactions where large refunds were given to eight different credit cards (again all issued to the same person). These transactions were from the cabinet department at Bailey's Discount Store. The total for all these refunds were $43,532.00.
All the credit cards came back to a Debra Kindernay, 42 of Knox. She was also employed at Bailey's Discount for ten years and worked in the cabinet department. Kindernay stated she was having some legal trouble and needed the money. She was charged with ten (10) counts of Theft Class D Felonies. She turned herself into the Starke County Jail in Knox today. She was released after paying an $11, 250.00 bond.
