New Traffic Signals at U.S. 231/I-65 Interchange to be Turned on This Week
Lights will begin flashing Tuesday and be fully activated Thursday
CROWN POINT, IN - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces new traffic signals at the interchange of I-65 and U.S. 231 in Crown Point will begin flashing Jan. 22 and be fully activated Jan. 24.
Crown Point City Engineer Bill Meeks requested signals be installed at the I-65 off- and on-ramps at U.S. 231. INDOT studied the interchange and established signalization is warranted.
On Jan. 22, the signals will begin flashing red for I-65 ramp traffic and yellow for U.S. 231 traffic. On the morning of Jan. 24, the signals will be fully activated. Because of the traffic pattern, a lagging left turn signal will be in effect for westbound U.S. 231 traffic turning onto northbound I-65. That means westbound traffic will see the through lights turn green first, followed by the left turn signal turning green.
