Mayor McShurley Announces Appointments

MUNCIE, IN -  Last week, Muncie Mayor Sharon McShurley announced the appointment of Mrs. Stephanie LeBlanc as the Executive Assistant to the Mayor’s Office. Mrs. LeBlanc is appointed to succeed Sheryl Estes who served under former Mayor Dan Canan. LeBlanc most recently served with the American Red Cross-Hoosier Heartland Chapter in Muncie. Her background includes more than twenty years as an administrative professional in private and non-profit organizations. She holds Business Degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. As Executive Assistant to the Mayor, LeBlanc will be responsible for coordination of the Mayor’s office including communication and scheduling.

Mayor McShurley also re-appointed Mrs. Jessie Jones as the Administrative Assistant for the Mayor’s Office. Jones has served in the Mayor’s office five years and provides administrative support for the Deputy Mayor’s office.

Mayor Sharon McShurley also announced the following appointments.

Ms. Barbara Taylor has been re-appointed as the Deputy Director of Community Development. Taylor will continue in this role and report to newly appointed Director Connie Gregory.

Mayor McShurley has re-appointed the following positions until March 31st, 2008 to allow sufficient time for the Transition Team to finalize the screening and hiring process for permanent appointments.

      • Mr. Joe Winkle, Chief of Muncie Police Department 
      • Mr. Terry Winters, Deputy Chief, Muncie Police Department 
      • Mrs. Karen Gibson, Superintendent of Muncie Animal Shelter   
      • Mr. David Dierson, Purchasing Agent, Controller’s Office 
      • Mr. Doug Brown, Superintendent of Muncie Street Department
