Mayor McShurley announces more appointments for Boards and Commissions

MUNCIE, IN - Mayor Sharon McShurley announces the following appointments to local boards and commissions.

Unsafe Building Hearing Authority: The following persons have been appointed to the Unsafe Building Hearing Authority Board to serve one-year terms. Mayor McShurley has appointed Bill Morgan, Ginny Nilles, Harold Mason, Kerry LePrees and Mark Conatser. This is a five-member board, all of whom are appointed by the Mayor, with one representing city council, one must be a historic preservation officer and three must live within the corporate city limits of Muncie. The board issues demolition orders, hold hearings and appeals for unsafe buildings. The board may also issue liens on property to recover demolition costs. The board meets the third Tuesday of each month at City Hall.

Convention & Tourism Commission: Dan Ridenour & Marsha Clark have been appointed to serve four year terms. This is a nine-member board, of which five are appointed by the mayor, two by the county commissioners and two by the county council on staggered four-year terms. The Delaware County Convention and Tourism Board was created by state statute to increase the economic impact of tourism in Delaware County. The board provides oversight and governance of the Muncie Visitor’s Bureau. The board meets the second Tuesday of each month at 12:00 PM at the Muncie Visitor’s Bureau. In addition, statutes require an equal balance of political party affiliations.

Alcoholic Beverage Commission: Leslie Marsh has been appointed to the Delaware County Alcoholic Beverage Board to serve a one-year term. The local board consists of four members, of which one is appointed by the County Commissioners, one by the County Council and one by the Mayor of Muncie. The fourth member is a State Excise Police Officer representing the State of Indiana. The board meets on the first Thursday of each month in the County Building at 8:15 AM. The board handles applications for alcoholic beverage permits.

Delaware-Muncie Metropolitan Plan Commission: Roy Budd has been appointed to serve a three-year term and Lance Lillie was re-appointed for an additional three-year term. The Commission consists of nine members, of which one must represent County Council, one from City Council, three that live in the county and four from within the city, and one of which represents the Muncie Community School District.

Muncie Industrial Revolving Loan Fund Board: The board consists of eight members (one non-voting), appointed by the Mayor and serves a one-year term. Recently appointed are Nick Woodgett (representing labor), Brad Polk (representing City Council), Roger Gilcrest (representing Economic Development Commission), Connie Gregory (representing Community Development), Sam Clemmons (representing minority community), and Frank Gilkison (City Attorney).

Muncie Economic Development Commission: The Commission consists of five members that serve a four-year term which are appointed by the Mayor. City Council and County Council each nominate a member for appointment by the Mayor. Roger Gilcrest and Andrew Dale have been appointed to serve.

Muncie Redevelopment Commission: Sam Pierce has been appointed to serve, Mark Turner and Mike Powell were re-appointed, and all are one-year terms. The Commission consists of five members of which, three are appointed by the Mayor and two by the City Council.
