Ron Paul: Running on empty, but still running...

By Rex Bell

Ron Paul's decision to forego a third party presidential bid this fall, along with any chance of being on the ballot, has left a lot of Libertarians and Constitutionalists, along with a lot of disgruntled Republicans, Democrats and Independents, with somewhat of an empty feeling. It's been a couple of hundred years since a candidate with Paul's passion for a Constitutionaly limited government has captured as much national attention. (Dr.Paul received more votes from Republican primaries on just Super Tuesday than any Libertarian Party candidate has in any general election since I've been affiliated with the party.) His decision not to run dashed a lot of hopes.

It would be easy to become discouraged that the vision for limited government didn't catch on this year. It would be easy to simply give in and give up. But I remember about 40 years ago when I was taking a karate class, and the instructor (I can't remember his correct title), would put us through some horrific exercises that required more endurance than most of us felt we had. When the last student gave up and dropped his arms, the instructor explained that someday we might be in a situation when the desire and ability to persevere would be the only thing that would keep us alive. There might come a time when can't count on someone else to save you.

I think that is where we are today. If you were one of those people that supported Ron Paul's push for limited government, personal freedom and personal responsibility, it didn't take too many primaries to figure out that the bulk of the Republican Party is no longer interested in promoting those concepts. Neither are they considered options by the Democrats.

So then what? We could give up, but I'm pretty sure we wouldn't like the results of that. Or, we could continue to fight. The Libertarian Party will nominate it's Presidential candidate this May. Although I don't know who that candidate will be, they will be the only candidate on most ballots that endorse limited government. I'm fairly certain it will be someone that holds most of the same libertarian values of Dr. Paul. I'm also fairly certain that the candidate won't have the name recognition of Dr. Paul, or the fundraising capabilities of the Paul campaign. I pretty sure the candidate won't garner as many votes as Ron Paul would if he was on the ballot.

But the Libertarian candidate will give limited government supporters a chance to vote for limited government. And a chance to hang on and keep fighting.

There are a lot of ways to give up. I'm afraid all of them end badly.

If everyone ignored those

If everyone ignored those who say that voting for Ron Paul is a waste, we might have a big surprise. He's the most articulate, straight forward and believable candidate. Ron Paul - He's the best choice.

When all is said and done,

When all is said and done, no matter how little the media coverage, no matter how vile, corrupt and murderous the opposition is, no matter how much spin and propaganda is shoved down my throat, no matter how much voter fraud is accomplished, no matter how many of my rights and freedoms are taken away....no matter what........

On election day....my vote will be for Ron Paul. MY VOTE WILL BE FOR RON PAUL. NO MATTER WHAT.

This is MY country and I will stop at nothing to get it back from the international bankers that destroyed it before I was even born into it's plutocracy. I am not a lawyer. I am not a politician. I am not a policy advisor, nor a head of state. I am not a congressman, or an attorney general. I am not a military man, or a protector of the people. I am me. I am trying to fight all of the aforementioned people that are supposed to be fighting FOR me. I am fighting THEM. What has happened?

I know what's happened, and with this knowledge, i will continue to do anything and everything that i can to help save this country. My secret weapon? The only one that cannot be destroyed.....education. I will spread the ideas of freedom, human rights, the way the system SHOULD work, the way it IS in it's current form, and how we need to stop it. I will tell my kids and my grandkids how a group of evil people hijacked the ability to print a nations money in an effort to hijack it's freedom. I will tell them of the old british empirical rule and the CFR and the Trilateral commission, and the truth about the fallacy that is 'bi-partisn' politics.

I will tell every politician who will listen. I will tell every police officer that i find has a heart before a gun. I will tell my military friends and they will tell theirs. I will continue to write and write and write about what i have learned, and what must be done about it. Ideas DO NOT DIE, nor does truth, they just get hidden for a while. If i find a bullet in my brain tomorrow or the next, it doesn't matter, my thoughts and my ideas are already spreading into the minds of others. Human beings are grand animals who are capable of the anti-thesis of the ruling class as it stands. This gives me hope no matter what.

I won't be committed every second to this cause, because i'm trying to make ends meet and spend time with those i care for, but i am doing what i can, as often as i can. In fact there literally hasn't been a day that's gone by in the last year that i haven't stopped talking about all that i've learned from Ron Paul and my own research. I've learned to open my eyes and shake the false reality from my lids. I care so much about this world and it's future that i've learned to speak out against my own apathy, to move beyond aggression and denial towards intellectual discourse and rationality. I tell every co-worker i know, i tell them often, and they ask questions when the message hits home. HELP ME. Every day.

Imagine it...

No income tax, no inflation, no government regulated education system, no pharma-industrial-complex, no prison-industrial-complex, no military-industrial-complex, no fascist dictatorship destroying our rights and freedoms, new jobs and growth for THIS economy, no un-secure borders, no more working two jobs to make ends meet, a better education and the ability to use it in a career that is satisfying and rewarding, no more dependence on oil, free energy because it was never meant to be anything less, and a free press through appealing media consolidation legislation so the truth can remain mainstream, and evil brought into light. Imagine...

I'm fighting to destroy the reality that has been provided. The truth can be so much more than what is fed. Our survival and the best we have to offer and to experience as a species on this little rock depends on fighting for these things. HELP ME. I understand some of this sounds rhetorical and cheesy, but it all still feels that way inside. I'm awake now, and i can never go back. I will never go back. What about you?
