Parents to Meet with MCS Superintendent About Washington-Carver Student Transfers
MUNCIE, IN - Parents of Washington-Carver Elementary students are invited to attend a meeting in the school’s cafeteria Monday, February 25, at 6:30 p.m. According to Muncie Community Schools Supt. Marlin B. Creasy, the meeting is to discuss with parents the transfer of the current regular education students and the possible schools the students would attend at the beginning of the 2008-2009 school year.
The Muncie Community Schools Board of School Trustees voted February 12 to transfer the school’s 254 regular education students (K-5) to schools adjoining the Washington-Carver enrollment district. At Monday’s meeting, Dr. Creasy will present a preliminary school boundary map which will show the new attendance district for the 2008-2009 school year.
The continued decrease in enrollment figures caused the Board to vote to transfer the students into other MCS facilities. The elementary school will still house the 193 Preschool Special Education students, as well as the office of the Delaware-Blackford Special Education Cooperative, and the Twenty-First Century Scholars Program office.
