Disenfranchised in Muncie.
Jim Arnold
The definition of disenfranchise is “deprived of the rights of citizenship (especially the right to vote)”. There has been much concern about citizens who MAY have been disenfranchised in the recent Muncie elections. There have been claims of vote fraud in precinct 18 (and others) and the disenfranchisement that would result from that vote fraud. There have been protests of disenfranchisement due to 19 votes in precinct 46 that were not counted due to a missing signature on the absentee ballot applications. Now the Secretary of State is on the case.
Based upon the recent City Council meeting where close to 400 people were packed like sardines in a sweltering City Hall court room, I wonder if the citizens of Muncie standing in the back of the City Hall court room who left because they could not hear the proceedings or who left because they were unable to stand for extended periods of time due to health issues feel that they were deprived of their rights of citizenship. I also wonder if the citizens who were not allowed to speak at the council meeting feel that they were disenfranchised. Sam Marshall, are you listening?
