Muncie Police Chief names Deputy Chief

MUNCIE, IN - Deborah Davis, who was recently appointed Chief of Police in Muncie, Indiana, announced immediate structural changes in response to the city budget crisis. Police Chief Davis is looking forward to working with the Merit Commission to bring the Police Department in line with the budget.

Police Chief Davis announced the appointment of Lt. Roc Barrett to Deputy Chief with the primary responsibility of leadership for the uniform division. Barrett will be responsible for increasing the effectiveness of the division to better serve citizens. The appointment of Barrett will cap his salary at the City Council approved amount for the deputy position. As a result, the city is not required to pay overtime costs.

Barrett brings more than twenty-two years of experience to the Deputy Chief position. The Uniform Division is the Department's largest unit
and will require his uniform patrol and leadership experience. 

With this announcement, Chief Davis will take on added responsibilities. In addition to providing overall leadership for the department, Davis will
continue to coordinate administrative and budgetary duties and provide direct leadership over the Investigative Division and all other Muncie police units.
