Rochester Man Arrested for Fleeing Trooper in Stolen Car

LOGANSPORT, IN - On Wednesday, March 5, at approximately 8:02 pm, Indiana State Police Trooper Greg Moolenaar initiated a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Camaro for suspicion of impaired driving on State Road 25 at Fulton Street in Logansport.  The Camaro initially stopped but as Trooper Moolenaar approached the vehicle to make contact with the driver, the vehicle sped away.

A short time later, officers from the Logansport Police Department and Cass County Sheriff’s Department located the Camaro in an alley. Officers located the driver, Billy T. Reames, 24, of Rochester, IN, walking near Sixth and Race Streets in Logansport.

Further investigation revealed that the Chevrolet Camaro had been reported stolen in Kosciusko County. The investigation also revealed that Reames was purportedly over the .08 blood alcohol concentration limit, which Indiana law considers a driver intoxicated.  Reames also allegedly provided officers with false information when they tried to identify him.

He was arrested and is being held in the Cass County Jail with a $5,000 surety bond. Reames faces charges of possession of stolen property and resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, both class D felonies. Additionally, he faces misdemeanor charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and false informing.
