Adjutant General returns from trip to Iraq

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The adjutant general of the Indiana National Guard visited Soldiers of the 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Major General R. Martin Umbarger returned today from a three-day visit with Indiana National Guardsmen deployed to Iraq.  He was accompanied by Command Sgt. Maj. James Brown, the top enlisted Soldier in the state.

Making stops in several locations throughout Iraq where the Nighthawks are currently conducting operations such as Balad, Al-Qayyarah and Baghdad, Maj. Gen. Umbarger and the command sergeant major took the time to speak with
Soldiers of the brigade, assuring them of his pride in their accomplishments.

Maj. Gen. Umbarger participated in awards ceremonies, town hall discussions and viewing Soldiers prepare for their missions.

Maj. Gen. Umbarger ended his visit on a strong and positive note. "I am proud of the service of these young men and women.  Their morale is high."
