Governor Daniels, other Midwestern governors ask for federal Flood Recovery Help

Governor Mitch Daniels, with the governors of Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin, have sent a letter to President Bush requesting a reduction in the amount states and local communities are required to reimburse the federal government for Individual Assistance, Public Assistance and Mitigation required during the current disaster emergency.

The states have asked that the 75 percent-25 percent federal/state-local share be reduced to 90 percent-10 percent. The 75-25 matching level will put an added burden on state and local governments already dealing with the effects of the disasters, the governors said.
