Indiana National Guard unit hosts family day

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Indiana National Guard Soldiers with the rear detachment of the 1st Battalion, 293rd Infantry Regiment are scheduled to host a Family Fun Day at the Fort Wayne armory Sunday, June 29, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The unit has about 950 Soldiers deployed to Iraq with the 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team.

For the carnival-like fun day, the unit will have a dunk tank, inflatable moon walk, inflatable bowling, inflatable basketball, a rock wall, games, food, and a local band will provide music.

The battalion Soldiers understand the difficult times family members go through during a deployment. The Soldiers of the 293rd plan to spend time with the families to show them that the unit supports them and stands behind them.
