July 4th Holiday Traffic Statistics

PENDLETON, IN -  The Indiana State Police Automated Reported Information and Exchange System (ARIES) has compiled the below statistics from the recent July 4th holiday travel period.  Due to the short time frame after the holiday period ended this collision data may be subject to change.   

July 4th Holiday Statistics 

2008 

• July 3-July 7              84 Hours            928 Crashes          317 Injured                2 Fatalities

2007 

• June 29-July 5          132 Hours           2,503 Crashes        808 Injured               13 Fatalities

Media Note- When comparing holiday periods from 2007 and 2008 please consider the difference in the number of hours included in the holiday period for each year.  As noted above 2007 had a much longer counting period in terms of hours than in 2008.   

There were no fatalities reported in the Pendleton District which includes Hamilton, Hancock, and Madison counties during the counting period.
