Muncie Mayor Appoints Members to Committee
MUNCIE, IN - Mayor Sharon McShurley has appointed members to the reorganization committee established when resolutions
were passed by Muncie Common Council and Delaware County Council this year. Per Indiana Code 36-1.5-4-16 ".three members shall be appointed
by the executive of each political subdivision participating in the reorganization. Not more than two of the members appointed by an executive of a political subdivision may be members of the same political party."
Gary Addison, a retired Muncie Community School teacher; James (Jim) Gooden, a long-time citizen activist who has served the Muncie community
on various boards and commissions; and Dr. D. Eric Kelly, Professor, Department of Urban Planning, Ball State University have agreed to serve
as the city's representatives. "I am delighted at the enthusiasm these individuals have expressed to me about the chance to serve the City of Muncie in this capacity. The City of Muncie and Delaware County have an opportunity to shine, not only in the state, but nationally, as we advance toward modernizing our governmental bodies. I have asked Gary, Jim, and Eric to become familiar with the Kernan-Shepard Report and Indiana Code 36-1.5-4 and encouraged them consider this as an opportunity to create a model for the rest of the state to follow," stated Mayor McShurley.
"The Muncie Common Council and the Delaware County Council should also be recognized and thanked by the citizens they represent as this move was not only progressive for all of us but the for the State of Indiana," added Mayor McShurley.
