State Treasurer Richard Mourdock Realizes $28,189.17 in Year-end Savings

Treasurer of State’s Office reverts 3.2% of its budget back to the State’s General Fund

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – State Treasurer Richard Mourdock announced that his office is returning $28,189.17 or 3.2% of its 2008 fiscal year budget, appropriated by the Indiana General Assembly, back to the State of Indiana and its General Fund.

“I have one of the smallest offices in state government and therefore one of the smallest budgets appropriated to it by the Indiana General Assembly,” stated Treasurer Mourdock. “The fact my office would return any of its appropriated funds back to the State’s General Fund, let alone 3.2% of its budget, is a huge accomplishment and speaks to my staff’s continued commitment to conserve Hoosier tax dollars.”
